Artefact 3D Text

Making 3D Text Look Good Cinema 4D

(0:00- 0:25) – I Started off adding a floor to place the text on later into the process. I then made a material into a solid white too add a nice finish off the text towards the end.
I placed the white onto the flooring by dragging it from the material section onto the floor. I then went on to Render setting so I could get really nice render at the end. I changed the width and hight of out put 1280/720, I then added two different effects called ambient occlusion and global illumination. I had to changed some of the settings in global illumination – Record density from medium to low and samples  from medium to low. I added a infinite light and duplicated the floor then moved it to the side of the bottom floor to look like a wall. I quickly rendered to see how it would look.

(0:25-0:53) – I then clicked on MoGraph and clicked Motext. I duplicated the text and went to the first one and change my depth to 100 cm. I changed what both texts would say to Newman. The 1st text was 20 cm deep so I had to changed the text to 80 cm. I selected both the texts and looked for a good font, the font I chose was Helvetica. I clicked on the duplicated text and changed the starting cap to fillet cap, end cap to fillet cap and fillet type to 1 step. By doing this I got a nice cap around the edge of the text.

(0:53-1:08) – I made a new material colour blue and un-ticked specular. I then dragged the blue into the text. I then went to light and clicked on shadow type changed it from none to shadow maps soft.

Ambient light -It makes light more real world like and bouncing light of it.The ambient light stop shadow from being completely black.

Global Illumination – bouncing of light of objects to other objects.

This was the final out come using the techniques show above.

Artefacts Photo Manipulation

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 15.43.34.png

To begin with I had to remove the background of the image using the quick selection tool, I  used this tool because I was able to drag the quick selection tool around picking all the sky up. If I was to use the magic wand to do it would only select the most similar colours for the selection meaning it wouldnt have pick all the background up.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 15.43.42.png

After I had selected all the background I then had to delete it so I could add the stars into the background.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 15.44.15.png

After I had added the stars into the background I wanted to get a nice colour overlay to give the entire image a good feel.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 15.45.04.png

I had to make a new layer then choose the colour I would like to use for the image. I chose orange because I felt this would suit the idea of an apocalypse. After I chose orange i went to the layer blending that will let me choose different types of blending like overlay for example this will add a nice smoove orange layer over the entire image.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 15.51.21.png

I then then searched up moon png the reason for this was to be able to place the moon in background so it would have no background. I then when to the layer style and chose the colour black in colour overlay, I then used the layer blending and clicked over to make the moon more dark looking.Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 15.52.10.png

I searched up orange flair and used the  warp tool to bend the flare around the moon to make it look like the flare was coming over the horizon of the moon.

This is my short video of my photo manipulation.
Through out this video I will be using many different tools to make a final

(0:03 – 0:10) – I was using the polygonal lasso tool to cut around the building, to give it a crumbled look. I used layer style on the crumbled parts of the building and clicked on drop shadow which allowed the building to have a falling look.

( 0:16 – 0:50 ) – I used a picture of a destroyed building on the inside to show the collapsing with in the building. I then used the polygonal tool to allow me to select the part of the collapsing building, then right clicked and selected layer via cut. I made smaller version of the cut out duplicated them to place behind the falling building. When I had placed the picture I used the brush tool to put black behind the structure the add a more realistic falling feel. I then used fire and smoke to add a really destruction feel the the building.

(1:23 – 2:02) I wanted to make it look like the moon was abouts to explode above the city, to make this happen i used a png image of a crack and placed it at the front of the moon. I then searched up fire png, so I could warp it around the flare.

(2:33 – 3:02) Here I was using more crack to place over the buildings using same techniques as I have already explained.

What I should have done

I was I was to do this photo again I would have made the cracks myself instead of using images of the internet. To do this I would have used the brush tool to draw on the crack and put shadows behind the.

I would also have made the fire and smoke myself using the different brushes that you can use in photoshop.

I would have made my own flares using photoshop layer styles.

Original Photo.

I have no owner ship of the photos used with in this photo manipulation its true purpose was for my own educational purposes only.

Final out come.

This is a demonstration on how to make a quick and simple background using some of the tools in photoshop.

(0:00-0:14) – I started of adding layer, I then went on to use the lasso tool to start making the terrain of the background. I would then use colour picker to make each layer of the grey brighter whilst filling in each layer with the bucket tool.

(0:15-0:36) I added a background into the image by making a new layer then filling it in with a cream colour. I used the lasso tool to make mini cloud and filled them in using the bucket. I used the lasso tool and changed the brightness of the colour fill to a bright grey so I could add a shine onto the mountain.

(0:37-1:15) – I started wanted to add a different colour to the entire image so I made a new purple layer, then looked through different layer blending option. I then clicked onto the brushes to find a tree like brush to begin adding to the layer of the mountain. I then decided I didn’t really like the purple so I kept looking through the colour blends. I soon merged all the layer into one by selecting them all the clicking merge all layer. The final process was to pixelate the image by clicking the filter button then going down to crystallise to pixelate it.

Final outcome

Camera Tracking

In todays lesson i have learnt how to camera track using Adobe Effects and Cinema 4D.

It was a rather short a easy process but very helpful and I’m looking forward to using it in the future.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 10.52.35

This tracks around the video basically scans it so when you place the 3D object into the video it will look much more realistic thatit would if you was not to use this process. Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 10.53.04.png

This was the process of when you click “track camera”.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 10.56.51.png

After the tracking is complete it should look like this.Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 10.58.03.png

Next you will right click on part of the image that has been tracked then you click on create “solid and camera”. Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.06.30.png

Once you’ve done that you will then need to export it into cinema 4D to open it up in Cinema 4D, you will then import the cup into cinema 4D.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.11.10.png

This is what it will look like once you put import the after effects file into the cinema 4D with the cup.Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.12.47.png

You will then need to fit the cup in the square to render.Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.14.04.png

In the setting you will need to turn on alpah channel so you don’t have a black background for when you import it back into after effects.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.14.49.png

Once you have rendered.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.16.20.png

You will then transfer the film into after effect.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.16.40.png

once you have transferred into after effects.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.16.54.png

Then you will just need to delete the orange box and you are complete.
